Welcome to Deska. By using this platform (whether browsing listings, creating an account, placing a bid, or making a purchase) you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully.
Deska is a device marketplace for phones, laptops, and other electronics. It currently operates as an auction platform, with direct purchase options available in future. These terms govern both models.
1. Who Can Use Deska
- You must be at least 18 years old to register and bid.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
- One account per person. Creating duplicate accounts may result in suspension.
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Do not share your login details.
2. How Auctions Work
Deska lists verified devices for auction. Each listing has a starting bid, an optional minimum increment, and an end time. The highest valid bid when the auction closes wins.
- Bids cannot be retracted once placed.
- Each bid must meet or exceed the stated minimum.
- All bids are validated server-side. Client-side values are never trusted.
- In the event of a technical error, Deska reserves the right to void affected bids.
- Auction end times are fixed. Deska does not extend auctions due to last-minute bids.
3. Payment Window & Provisional Winner
When an auction closes, the highest bidder becomes the provisional winner. The item is not yet sold. It is held pending successful payment.
- A countdown timer is displayed on your winner page. Monitor it closely.
- If payment is not received and verified within the window, your status may be marked as expired and the item offered to the next highest bidder.
- Reassignment to the next bidder is manually approved by our team, not automatic. Local network delays or genuine issues will be considered.
- The admin may extend your deadline at their discretion.
- Repeated non-payment will result in account suspension.
4. Payment
Deska currently accepts payment by direct bank transfer only. No card payments, no crypto.
- Bank account details are shown exclusively to the provisional winner and are never made public.
- You must include your unique payment reference in the transfer narration.
- After transferring, upload a clear screenshot or photo of your bank receipt as proof.
- Payments are manually verified by our team before the sale is confirmed.
- If your proof is unclear or incorrect, you will be notified and given the opportunity to re-upload within the remaining window.
- Deska is not responsible for delays caused by your bank. Transfer early to allow processing time.
5. Delivery & Fulfilment
After payment is confirmed, we will contact you to arrange collection or delivery based on the details you provided.
- Orders are fulfilled by delivery after checkout.
- If delivery is selected, a delivery fee will be added to your total. This fee is shown before you confirm.
- Delivery timelines will be communicated after payment is verified.
- You are responsible for providing an accurate delivery address. Deska is not liable for failed deliveries caused by incorrect information.
- Risk passes to you upon handover or handoff to a delivery partner.
6. Device Condition & Accuracy
Every device listed on Deska is personally tested and described as accurately as possible. Condition, battery health, known defects, and storage are listed on each product page.
- Listings show real photos of the actual device.
- Battery health percentages are measured at the time of listing. They may differ slightly by the time of handover due to continued use during the listing period.
- We describe defects honestly. If a defect is listed, the price reflects it. Do not bid if the described condition is not acceptable to you.
- Deska does not represent that devices are brand new, factory sealed, or covered by manufacturer warranty unless explicitly stated.
7. Refunds & Returns
A return may be considered only if:
- The device received is materially different from what was described in the listing.
- The device is dead on arrival (completely non-functional upon receipt).
- You report the issue within 24 hours of receiving the item with supporting evidence.
Change of mind, buyer's remorse, or failure to read the listing description carefully do not qualify for a return or refund.
8. Reassignment to Next Bidder
If a provisional winner does not complete payment within the payment window, Deska may, at its discretion, offer the item to the next highest bidder.
- Reassignment is never automatic. Our team reviews each case individually.
- The next eligible bidder will receive a notification and a fresh payment window.
- Bidders who were outbid are not guaranteed to receive the item even if the winner defaults.
- Deska reserves the right to cancel an auction rather than reassign if appropriate.
9. Accounts & Suspension
- Accounts that win auctions and repeatedly fail to pay will be suspended.
- Attempting to manipulate auction results, place fake bids, or abuse the platform will result in permanent suspension.
- Deska reserves the right to suspend or close any account without notice if abuse is detected.
- You may request account deletion by contacting us. Deleted accounts lose access to bid history and listings.
10. Direct Sales (Future)
Deska plans to offer fixed-price direct purchase listings in addition to auctions. When this feature launches, these terms will be updated accordingly. Direct sales will follow the same payment, delivery, and condition standards.
11. Limitation of Liability
Deska operates as a marketplace facilitating the sale of used electronics by a verified seller. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Deska is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform.
- Deska is not responsible for losses resulting from technical issues, outages, or third-party service failures.
- Our total liability to you in any circumstance is limited to the amount you paid for the specific transaction in question.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of Deska after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
